Profile
Marshall Health Care offers a comprehensive range of medical investigation and patient advocacy services to support patients, their families, and loved ones in navigating the complexities of the healthcare system.
Introduction
In today’s managed healthcare environment, the priorities of administrators, insurance companies, and pharmaceutical firms often overshadow patient care. As a result, healthcare providers such as doctors and nurses are frequently limited in the time and attention they can give patients. It has become increasingly difficult to secure timely medical appointments, with many patients facing delays of up to three months before seeing a physician.
Managed care systems have stretched hospital and clinical staff to their limits, prioritizing cost-saving measures at the expense of quality care. This has led to an increased risk of substandard care, which can result in poor patient outcomes, including increased morbidity and mortality. In some instances, these deficiencies in care may be driven by biases, such as those based on race, gender, culture, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or nationality, which is unacceptable.
At Marshall Health Care, we address these gaps by providing a full spectrum of healthcare support services. Our mission is to ensure that patients understand their medical conditions, receive the standard of care they deserve, and seek appropriate recourse when there is a breach in care.
Services Offered
I. Medical Investigations
We initiate medical investigations when there is a suspected breach in the standard of care, resulting in poor hospital or clinical outcomes, including:
Patient Mortality
Patient Morbidity: Permanent conditions resulting from injury, illness, or errors in medical treatment
Substandard Care: This includes inadequate treatment caused by biases, such as:
1. Racial bias
2. Gender bias
3. Cultural bias
4. Ethnic bias
5. Socioeconomic Status: Disparities in care based on a patient’s financial circumstances or access to resources
II. Investigation Process
The medical investigation process begins with interviews with the patient and any witnesses, followed by obtaining and reviewing medical records. We explain these records to the patient, ensuring they fully understand what occurred during their hospital or clinical stay. The process concludes with a comprehensive report and a medical-legal evaluation.
III. Legal Representation
We assist patients in finding appropriate legal representation for pursuing settlements or litigation based on the investigation’s findings.
IV. Patient Advocate Services
Our patient advocacy services ensure that patients receive the appropriate care and support they need by:
Providing clear explanations of medical conditions, medications, procedures, and surgeries
Attending clinical or hospital visits with the patient and interacting with staff to ensure proper care
Offering 24/7 support during emergencies, including being present when 911 is called or when urgent medical situations arise
V. Medical Consulting
We also provide medical consulting services, including:
Diabetes Education: Helping patients and families understand Type I and Type II diabetes, how to manage the condition, and what dietary restrictions apply
Holistic Health Approaches: We address and prevent disease states by:
